Choosing the correct deadbolts for your doors can be challenging, especially when the door is being used in a commercial space. For applications where you need a deadbolt with a thumb turn on the interior, but don't necessarily need a key cylinder on the exterior of a door, Falcon grade 2 deadbolts are a great solution. This door hardware line features a wide variety of deadbolt options, each designed with a specific purpose in mind. Whether you’re shopping for hardware for an office, school, hospital, apartment, hotel, or other public building, you’ll find a Falcon lock that gets the job done. In this post, we’ll be going over four of the lock variations in the Falcon Grade II D200 Series that we offer here at Direct Door Hardware.

Falcon D200 Deadbolt

The D200 Series, Grade 2 Deadbolts from Falcon Lock
The deadbolt locks from Falcon’s D Series are designed to fit on just about any type of door. They feature an adjustable backset with an innovative lock-in-place design, allowing you to customize the lock for a variety of applications. The Grade II D200 Series locks can be fitted with any cylinder, which enhances lock strength on the jamb side of the door. These locks are available in 8 different functions, including keyless, double-cylinder, and single-cylinder options, as well as five finish options. They feature a solid zinc bolt with a hardened steel anti-saw pin and a metal dust box that anchors to reinforce wood door frames. A Falcon deadbolt from this series is one of the easiest pieces of door hardware to install, so they’re highly rated locks that work well in commercial spaces. Here’s a closer look at four of the available functions:

  1. Falcon Grade II D200-Series Commercial Deadbolt Thumbturn Inside x Rose
One of the 8 deadbolt functions to choose from in the D200 series is the Inside x Rose function. This option features a deadbolt that is thrown or retracted by the turn unit only. There is a blank exterior rose, and the bolt will automatically lock when fully thrown. This commercial deadbolt is compatible with door thicknesses of 1 3/8” to 1 7/8”. It’s also available in five finishes: satin brass, bright brass, oil-rubbed bronze, satin chrome, and bright chrome.

  2. Falcon Grade II D200-Series Commercial Deadbolt Thumbturn x Thumbturn
The Thumbturn x Thumbturn function features a deadbolt that is thrown or retracted by a thumbturn unit from either side of the unit. This is an ideal application for facilities that need additional or extreme security, such as tornado shelters. The bolt automatically deadlocks when fully thrown. Like all the deadbolts in this series, this option features a lock-in-place design, a tapered free-spinning trim ring, and a removable anti-pry shield.

  3. Falcon Grade II D200-Series Commercial Deadbolt Classroom Function
With the classroom function, the deadbolt is thrown or retracted from the outside by using a key. The inside turn will only retract the bolt, and the bolt automatically deadlocks when fully thrown. This function prevents an unauthorized person from securing a room without permission while also providing safe egress by allowing the thumbturn to retract the bolt if necessary. The integrated trim design makes for a shorter assembly time, providing a quick and efficient experience. This deadbolt also features a tapered front that resists wrenching.

  4. Falcon Grade II D200-Series Commercial Deadbolt Single Cylinder x Thumbturn
A single-cylinder deadbolt features a design with a keyed cylinder on the outside and a thumbturn on the inside. With the Single Cylinder x Thumbturn function, the deadbolt is thrown or retracted by a key or thumbturn, allowing the door to quickly and easily be unlocked from the inside. As with the other Falcon locks, the bolt automatically deadlocks when fully thrown. This is ideal for a variety of commercial environments, especially in the event of an emergency.

As you can see, deadbolts from the Falcon Grade II D200 Series can be used for a variety of purposes in many different spaces. However, it’s important to keep in mind that these locks do not have an emergency release on the exterior. You would not want to use them in an application where the only emergency access is through the door.
