Emtek Barn Door Hardware Basics
If you are planning to install a barn door in your home there are some things to prepare for. Emtek barn door tracks are pre-drill with holes for the lag bolts that mount the track to the wall. These lag bolts will need solid wood backing in the wall to be able to be mounted securely and withstand the forces that will be on the track with the door sliding back and forth. The best way to prepare for this is to frame backing between all of the studs at the top of the door and the entire length of the track. This way, once the drywall is hung you can place the lags in the holes predrilled on the track and be sure you'll be hitting solid wood to securely hold the lag bolts in place. Taking a little time to prep the door before drywall can make your project go a lot smoother.
