Options for Replacing Your Emtek 322 Screen Door Lock

Over the years, we’ve heard this question more times than we can count: “Do you carry replacement Emtek screen door locks?” If you’ve landed here while searching for one, you’re definitely not alone.

Unfortunately, Emtek discontinued their screen door locks quite some time ago. Since then, homeowners with existing Emtek screen doors—especially those using the old Emtek 322 lock—have been stuck in a frustrating spot when something breaks or stops working. And for a long time, we didn’t have much good news to share.

While we still can’t offer direct replacement locks, we do have some helpful direction thanks to a bit of research and some assistance from Al over at Emtek.

Why Emtek Screen Door Locks Are Hard to Replace

When Emtek stopped manufacturing their screen door locks, they also stopped producing replacement parts. That means once a lock wears out or fails, there’s no drop-in Emtek replacement available. This can be especially frustrating because Emtek hardware is known for its quality, and many of these doors are still in great shape overall.

The most common issue we hear about involves the mortise box inside the door, which is the internal mechanism that makes the latch work. When that part fails, the entire lock can become unusable, even if the exterior trim still looks fine.

The Good News: There Is a Replacement Option

While Emtek no longer produces these parts, there is a workaround for certain models. A company called MTS International carries replacement mortise boxes that are compatible with the old Emtek 322 screen door locks. This won’t be a full lock replacement, but for many people, replacing the mortise box is enough to get their screen door functioning properly again. A Few Helpful Tips Before You Call

Before reaching out, it’s a good idea to:
