When it comes to choosing door hardware for your home, we know you've got lots of options – plain or fancy, brass or nickel, modern or traditional. If you're looking for something that's a little bit different with quality that will last and last, Nostalgic Warehouse antique door hardware offers the ideal blend of modern function and vintage sparkle. Nostalgic Warehouse has a wide range of vintage door hardware products. Whether you are looking to replace antique door knobs or give your new home a vintage look, Nostalgic Warehouse has hardware that will last a long time.
Choose Nostalgic Warehouse for Your Vintage Door Hardware
Set your home apart from the rest with Nostalgic Warehouse vintage door hardware products. You can also see our large selection of antique hardware from Grandeur, Emtek, and Brass Accents. However, Nostalgic Warehouse is probably the most popular of the antique door hardware. There is a wide selection of that vintage style you may be looking for. These knobs are great for replacing the old antique skeleton key-type door knobs (aka mortise locks) because those antique doors won't fit just any door knob. Nostalgic Warehouse is also great if you love that vintage look for your new home.
There are also tons of door knobs that look vintage but fit the standard prep doors. You can find pretty much any type of antique hardware with Nostalgic Warehouse, from antique handlesets down to a vintage-style door stop. Grandeur Door Hardware is another line from Nostalgic Warehouse. It has a lot of the vintage style but with a modern function. Emtek's antique selection is another high-quality collection of hardware that will last and last. The variety of styles may be a little more scarce, as the options are narrowed down to either crystal or porcelain styles. Brass Accents’ antique selection is where you will find all of the solid brass styles. Each one of the Brass Accents antique style door knobs has its own intricate detail and design which makes them classic.
Can You Buy Individual Back Plates and Knobs?
For quite some time we have sold a great line of vintage-style knobs from Nostalgic Warehouse. There are many knob and backplate styles to fit your historic home, but up until now, we have just sold the complete locksets. We now offer all of the miscellaneous back plates and knobs for sale individually. If your old mortise box works fine but your old antique doorknobs are falling off of the spindles, you can now just buy replacement doorknobs and spindles if you need to. Check out our Antique Door Hardware and Parts. Keep in mind that we do continue to run low on antique bronze Arapaho knobs as well as bathroom accessories. We will ship them as soon as we receive them, but we do not have a definite date.
Refinishing Old Hardware for Antique Doors
Over the years I have had many customers ask if they can just keep their old door hardware, but have it refinished. Most of us really don't have hardware that is all that unique so it's probably better to replace it with new door knobs and recycle the old ones at the scrap metal shop because the cost to refinish would be much more than the cost of brand new door locks.
Occasionally though, someone has a piece of hardware that is unique, historical, or maybe their front door is unique or very valuable and the best option is to replace the hardware with the exact same so that no drilling or further damage to the door is required. Recently I found a shop in Glencoe, IL that specializes in refinishing door hardware among other things. If you have some antique hardware that you would just prefer to keep, check out International Silver Plating Inc. We've never had them refinish anything for us, but it sounds like they have been doing it for 80 years so they might just be a good place to start.
