What You Should Know About the Schlage Andover Knob:

Note: Schlage entrance locks have a turn button on the inside and are designed to stay locked unless turn button lock is disengaged by the user. Schlage privacy locks have a push button lock on the interior which is disengaged when the knob or lever is turned from the inside.

Finish Note: Oil Rubbed Bronze and Aged Bronze are quite similar. We are noticing more people prefer the Aged Bronze because it has more of a glossy finish with a rubbed look. The Oil Rubbed Bronze is more of a solid matte brown color.

Schlage Andover Door Knob Functions

Schlage door knobs are available in several functions. Please review the descriptions below so you can order the correct door knob for your application.

Passage Door Knob Function Schlage Passage [FA10] or Hall and Closet Doorknobs are used on doors that do not require a locking mechanism. Halls, closets, pantry or laundry doors will generally use a passage knobset. Passage knobs do not have a locking mechanism.

Privacy Door Knob Function Schlage Privacy [FA40] or Bed and Bath Door Knobs are most often used on Bedrooms, Baths or Office doors where a lock for privacy while occupied is desired, but a keyed lock is not really necessary. Schlage privacy knobs have a turn button on the end of the knob as shown to the left to activate the lock. On the outside, there is a pin hole for emergency unlocking. Some knobs will have a pin hole inside a circular piece, some just have a small pinhole.

Keyed Entrance Door Knob Function Schlage Keyed Entrance [FA51] Door Knobs are generally used on exterior doors, but sometimes used on interior doors where security is a concern. Schlage keyed entrance knobs have a push pin lock on the inside backplate, similar to a privacy lock. On the outside there is a keyed cylinder. If the knob is locked from the inside a key is required for entrance. If you are ordering several keyed locks of the same brand we can key them alike for you.

Single Dummy Door Knob Function Schlage Single Dummy [FA170] Doorknobs are sold individually. Dummy knobs do not have a latch or mechanism of any kind. These knobs are surface mounted to a door that has not been bored (large hole cut out) for a doorknob. Dummy knobs are generally used on double doors that us a ball catch at the top to keep them closed so a latch is not required. They are also commonly found on the inactive side of a french door - a single dummy monted on either side of the inactive door.

Schlage extends a lifetime limited mechanical and finish warranty and a one-year limited electronics warranty to the original consumer user (Original User) of our Schlage brand product (Product) against defects in material and workmanship, as long as the Original User occupies the residential premises upon which the Product was originally installed. See complete Schlage Warranty.

Schlage door knobs can be returned within 60 days of purchase. Before returning you must obtain a return authorization number so that we can get your credit properly issued. There is a 15% restocking fee on all returned Schlage hardware. Please see our returns page for more details.

I purchased an oil rubbed bronze doorknob for our master bathroom as we were having it renovated with ORB plumbing fixtures. The doorknob looks great on the door. Good quality and easy to install.

Great Product
This is a very good product. Very easy to install. I also puchased a 5" backset latch to fit my door. The two products, both Schlage, worked together seamlessly. No issues whatsoever.

Not bad, but....
This knob isn't bad. Reasonable construction, easy to install, works well, and ok finish (on a 1 to 10 scale I give a 7.5). But, Schlage has come out with a new version with concealed screws on both sides, square vs radius-ed corners on the faceplate, and a slightly diff model number FA10-AND vs F10-AND. Is one better then the other? I don't actually know but be aware if you're matching. [My bad, I missed the detail] My 5 star rating is reserved for solid brass constructed knobs.

Hard to find elsewhere in polished chrome. Quick delivery. Bought with matching deadbolt to go with old refinished polished nickel door hardware and chrome kitchen faucet. Installed easily in new Pella door, looks fabulous and works very well. Very happy!

[productqa_] Questions and Answers

Question Are the Andover, Georgian and Plymouth door knobs all to ANSI 2 standard?
Asked by: Wabi - 2/1/2015
Question Yes, all of the Schlage F-Series handles are ANSI grade 2 Answer provided by:  Josh (2/2/2015)
Question We need the squared corner faceplates and latch plates. It says these come with rounded corner strike and mortise plates but square are available upon request. Are these the same thing? Would this be a special order and need to be done over the phone?
Asked by: Jennifer Wright - 4/14/2015
Question Please place your order by phone Answer provided by:  Josh (4/15/2015)
Question What's the procedure for getting a new deadbolt keyed to the lock currently in our house?
Asked by:  - 11/19/2015
Question As long as you are ordering the same brand we can key them alike. We would just need your 5 digit key code to get this done. You can give us a call to order or enter that code in the comments as you checkout. The keycode is sometimes stamped on your original keys. Answer provided by:  Jake (11/19/2015)
Question Is this a "dummy" door knob?
Asked by: Lisa - 12/30/2015
Question This does have a non-functioning single dummy option. In the knob function dropdown at the top of the page you can select to have a single dummy or one of the other "functioning" options. Answer provided by:  Jake L (12/31/2015)
Question I've purchased mult Andover knobs in dark rubbed bronze finish-all the bathroom knobs wear and tarnish within 6 months of install-revealing the base brassy look. I'm guessing the damp hands, lotioned hands wear the finish? I'd like to change the knobs to an antique nickel finish...will the finish wear on these as reveal a brassy base?
Asked by: Cb6 - 2/14/2016
Question The Schlage Oil Rubbed Bronze finish is a living finish, which means it patinas over time. It's supposed to turn shiny and kinda brassy after a while- that's what true oil rubbed bronze does. It's also why there's no lifetime finish warranty on that finish for any of their knobs- it's supposed to change. Answer provided by:  M (8/28/2017)
Question can this have an interchangeable core keyed on one side and turn lock on the other ?
Asked by: patrick - 8/16/2018
Question This is a residential door knob, so not available interchangeable core, but it is available with a regular 5 pin residential key cylinder outside and thumbturn inside. For a knob with IC core you would have to go to the Schlage D series knobs Answer provided by:  Josh (8/16/2018)
Question Is it entrance door lock ?
Asked by: Leena B. Lakhkar - 5/18/2019
Question This can be used on an entrance door. Choose "entrance" function in the dropdown menu for a keyed lock. Answer provided by:  Josh (5/20/2019)
