Question Hello! What is meant by double or single dummy? That the knob does not turn on either both or one side? Also, my door already has a mortise lock on it, very old. Do I need to replace it along with the handle? If not, what are the chances there is a skeleton key that would fit my door available? Thank you!

Question The double dummy will have a non-turning knob for both sides of a door. The single dummy will be just a single, non-turning knob for one side of a door.

Most of the time you can replace handles and don't need to replace the mortise lockbox. It just depends on if the hardware you're ordering is compatible with the box you have. If we can get pictures and measurements of your current setup sent to [email protected] we can look at it and see what we have available for you. Answer provided by:  Jake L (8/23/2017)
