This knob or lever set is specifically designed with a 2" backset latch for use on swing patio doors, including Atrium doors with sliding screens. Matching 2" backset deadbolts also available.

It is difficult to find a 2” backseat, so I was happy to get this item, although expensive. The quality and packaging were as expected for a premium item. The difficulty is that this is made for a round handle as shown by the instructions. With a lever only two positions are allowed, one too high and the other too low, so the lever is not perpendicular to the door.

Finally a replacement for 2” Backset

My patio door’s 2” backset handle broke months ago and I couldn’t find a replacement at any of the home improvement stores. I called a locksmith and they couldn’t find one either. Finally I stumbled upon Direct Door Hardware online and found this. Honestly, the first one was bad out of the box. The mechanism would stick and not spring back. DDH’s customer service was great & they sent me out a replacement in 2 days. It’s been installed & working perfectly for a couple months. The finish is really nice and the install was easy.

Difficult to install

Options were limited with a 2" backset and this lever was what we wanted. It is stylish but proved very difficult for me to install because the pegs did not want to line up properly.

Does this passage door set lock ?

No it does not. Passage function means it is a non-locking set. This knob is not available as a locking set with 2" backset. But you can use a deadbolt with the passage knob - the deadbolt is available in a 2" backset. Answer provided by: Jake (12/31/2018)

how do I know if the door is for a left or right lever handle ?

The way you determine handing for door hardware is a bit different than how carpenters do it.

If you stand outside your door looking at it, if the hinges are on the right it is a right handed door. Hinges on the left, left handed door. Answer provided by: Jake (3/11/2019)

Will it fit on a 1-3/4” thick wood door? Is the spring latch 1”x2-1/4” square corner? Does it come with a “T” strike?
