Description

Kwikset 5" Backset Latch.  This is a deadlatch to be used with compatible Kwikset knobs or levers.

Kwikset's 5" backset latch is available in Polished Brass, Polished Chrome or Antique brass finish. Only works with Kwikset brand door hardware.

Faceplate is square corner and Non-removeable.

Wish I could have found this locally!
I have a 1960's house with 1960's craftsman doors. One of the doors needed this longer latch and it worked perfectly. Very easy to install.

Construction worker
Made doorway through porch railing and wanted realistically secure and stong latching hardware. Worked great and just as functional as any front door. The 5" set back created extra room for hand with out the fear of injury. Good product.

Hard to find latches.
I ordered this door latch and it was exactly what I needed. It fit perfectly in my door from the late 50's early 60's. I really didn't want to have to replace the door because I couldn't use modern hardware, cd doors direct made it possible. They were a pleasure to work with and the parts are top quality.

Question As far as we know these will only fit Kwikset hardware as they are designed and made by kwikset for Kwikset locks. I couldn't recommend it for anything else. Answer provided by:  Jake (8/18/2015)

Question My steel front door needs a replacement drive-in deadlatch with 5 inch backset. I tried the Kwikset 83014-3 by removing the square plate but then the deadlatch is completely non-functioning: the latch will not retract. Any other options?

Question Hello, both Schlage and Kwikset 5" backset latches are deadlatches vs. a normal spring latch. These are typically used on exterior doors and handlesets but can also be used on interior doors. Answer provided by:  Zach (4/8/2019)
