Question Will this work with a Defiant door knob?
Asked by: Sterling - 6/29/2015
Question My guess is that a Defiant knob will not like this latch at all :-)

No, as far as I know these will only work with Kwikset brand locks.

Question Hi, I am looking for a complete one-sided deadbolt assembly with a thumbturn and a 5 inch backset. All I see is the latch. Can you help me? Thanks, Bob

Question Unfortunately we do not have a single sided deadbolt that would work with a 5" backset. The latches on the single sided units are different. Answer provided by:  Jake (11/2/2015)
Question I need a 5 in backset with 2 holes for the screws holding the handle and a 3/8 by 3/8 square opening for the shaft. Do you have it? Regards

Question This 5" backset does have two screws on the faceplate but the spindle hole is not 3/8". This is meant to fit Kwikset brand hardware. We have not tested it with any other brand. Answer provided by:  Jake (7/2/2018)
Question I'm considering buying a Kwikset Halo keyless smart lock. Problem: My door is old. And it has a 5" backset spacing. Will the Kwikset 82730 5" deadbolt latch be compatible with it?
Asked by: Pete - 2/6/2023
Question No, Im sorry. Schlage and Kwikset offer this 5" latch for people like you with older homes when this installation was common. Unfortunately, none of their new products like keypad deadbolts are designed to be compatible with the 5" latch. To accomplish what you want, you'll need to patch/repaint and re drill the bore hole at the proper backset. Alternatively, you could replace the door if you need an excuse to do that.
