"kickplates are long flat pieces of solid brass. Because of this they can get damaged during shipping easier than some other items might. To protect the kick plates during shipping, the manufacturer applies a film on one side of the kickplate - the side that will be visible once it is mounted to the door. We have had a couple of people recently return their kickplate thinking we totally misrepresented the products and shipped them a cheap kickplate with a horrible finish. What really happened is they didn't remove the protective covering. The protective covering just peels off and has a sticker on it that says ?remove the protective film.? This is kind of humorous, but happens more than you'd think. So, if you order a kickplate; remember to remove the protective coating before you send it back. Chances are it is exactly what you expected under that protective film."
