Emtek Stainless Steel Stuttgart Lever Handle Functions

Emtek Lever Handles are available in several functions. Please review the descriptions below so you can order the correct door lever for your application.

Passage Door Knob Function Emtek Passage or Hall and Closet Lever Handlesare used on doors that do not require a locking mechanism. Halls, closets, pantry or laundry doors will generally use a passage leverset. Passage levers do not have a locking mechanism.

Privacy Door Knob Function Emtek Privacy or Bed and Bath Door Levers are most often used on Bedrooms, Baths or Office doors where a lock for privacy while occupied is desired, but a keyed lock is not really necessary. Emtek privacy levers have a push button on the rosette or backplate as shown to the left to activate the lock. On the outside, there is a pin hole for emergency unlocking. Some levers will have a pin hole inside a circular piece, some just have a small pinhole.

Double Dummy Door Knob Function Emtek Double Dummy Door Levers are sold in pairs. Dummy levers do not have a latch or mechanism of any kind. These levers are surface mounted to a door that has not been bored (large hole cut out) for a lever. Dummy leverss are generally used on double doors that us a ball catch at the top to keep them closed so a latch is not required. They are also commonly found on the inactive side of a french door - a single dummy mounted on either side of the inactive door.

Emtek Keyed Levers Not all Emtek knob and levers are available in a keyed function. For your exterior doors you may consider and Emtek passage knob or lever used with an Emtek deadbolt above, or and Emtek Sideplate Lock which incorporates the lever and deadbolt with one larger decorative backplate.

Customer Reviews

Owner of Design/Build firm
WARNING - the “thick door” options are basically a lie. The quality of Emtek levers has steadily declined over the years…currently the critical components of these levers are weak brass and plastic…my most recent purchase was a nightmare, emtek sent me the wrong back set and wrong spindle sizes…twice…. Then literally just today I revived a call from a client who’s lever we installed 2 years ago has broke. I also recently spoke to colleagues of mine at isostore.com who had been using emtek levers for their custom thick doors but also having significant quality control issues and they were told directly by emtek that they only guarantee their levers on doors weighing less than 100lbs…so perhaps someone has a 3” thick door made of cardboard that these levers would be useful for, but otherwise there are better options now available which are made of steel components and won’t break. These get 2 stars because if you are only using them for light use interior residential doors up to 1-3/4” thick then they are “probably” fine.

Question How to take door handle out of door and how do i put it back in door
Asked by: Angelina - 7/16/2022
Question There are two screws on the inside of the handle. Just loosen those two completely and the two halves of the lever can be removed from the door. The latch can be removed with two screws on the edge of the door. Answer provided by:  Jake (7/18/2022)
