Emtek Replacement Latch for Passage and Privacy Knobs and Levers
Replacement latch for Emtek door knobs and lever handles. Includes square corner or rounded corner faceplate in your choice of eight finishes and mounting screws. 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" backset latches are non-adjustable. This latch is for Emtek privacy or passage knobs and levers only.

Emtek covers it's door hardware with a 5 yr finish and mechanical warranty. Living finishes are not covered under this warranty as they are designed to change over time. For more information see Emtek Door Hardware Warranty.

Emtek products are assembled per order so when they are returned the doorknobs have to be taken apart and restocked. As a result, there is a 25% restock fee on all Emtek products. If items are returned that have been installed, used or abused there may be a higher restock fee assessed or no credit issued. If you need to return an item, please repack the door hardware in it's original packaging to assure that it arrives undamaged. For more return information see our Direct Door Hardware Returns Page. I have tried to find a replacement latch for my DOMUS door handles installed in my house back in 2002. The latch bolt came unscrewed in 2 of my door handles. I almost gave up after ordering 2 different latches from another company did not work. This EMTEK standard passage latch in polished brass with 2 3/8" backset is a perfect replacement. I have just ordered 2 more from Directdoor Hardware. They handled my order expeditiously with it arriving at least a week before I had expected and their pricing cannot be beat I am sure. A great company with which to do business!

I actually just got this installed. One problem, the door will not open from the outside. The door button does not release the latch. I have not installed many doors, but my guess is I have to make the catch plate on the door a bit deeper. Outside of that, it closes and locks ok. I live in a rural area with 3 dogs (indoor), so I have not been too worried about someone coming in. If there is a better way of "fixing" my latch release problem, I would welcome a solution.

Direct Door Hardware responded very efficiently to my inquiry, and sent our 2 3/4" backset Emtek latches as quick as I hoped and at a good price. We changed all the door hardware in our house to Emtek several years ago so we're well aware of their high quality look, feel and operation. When three replacement doors were accidentally installed with a different backset dimension I was happy to find that Direct Door Hardware could send us alternate latches quickly. Thanks.

The Emtek Oil Rubbed Bronze standard latch with square corner faceplace was ordered to replace a failing DOMUS latch. The EM-LATCH-PRIV-238-US10B-SQU part works well since DOMUS interior door handle parts can no longer be sourced. But, it's not a perfect match. The handle has to travel farther to make the latch work which poses a problem for the handle spring.

Trying to replace Domus ddor lock parts. Looking for passage/ privacy hardware in polished brass. Can you help?

I'm sorry, we are not a dealer for Domus. I don't know of any dealers for their product in the US. We do have a customer who has purchased Emtek latches and he says he has used them to repair his Domus locks. You could try it if you want, but there is no way I could guarantee fitment for something like this. These latches can be returned - the buyer pays the return shipping cost. There are two bracket sizes for the latch; how do I measure for the correct size?

I need a passage and privacy latch for a 2-3/4 inch backer, but the handle set has a crescent moon spindle not square. Can you help with this??

If you have a moon shaped spindle it is likely a kwikset or weslock handle. You'd need to figure out what brand you have before ordering anything. Latches are not interchangeable between brands. Answer provided by: Jake (7/27/2017)

I will be replacing the latch on an existing Emtek passage set. Looking at the installation instructions for the whole set, where it describes installing the latch component (step 4) it says "Place Plastic Alignment Tool in bore hole." My question: Will I need this Alignment Tool when I install the replacement latch, and if so do you include it when I order the latch from you? Thanks!
