Order Help

Emtek Wrought Steel Lafayette Monolithic Handleset is Available in the Following Functions

Single Cylinder Handleset
Emtek single cylinder handlesets are locked/unlocked with a key from the exterior and locked/unlocked from the inside of the home with a thumbturn. Single cylinder handleset are by far the most popular function of handle set.

Double Cylinder Handleset
Emtek double cylinder handlesets have a keyed lock on both sides of the handleset. This means that to exit or enter the door you must have a key to unlock the door. Some people use double cylinder handlesets on glass doors where they are concerned that someone may be able to break the glass and unlock the door from the inside. The disadvantage of using a double cylinder handleset is that in the event of an emergency you would have to locate the key to unlock the door and get out of the building. For this reason we recommend the single cylinder handleset for most applications.

Dummy Handleset
If you have a double front door where one side is generally inactive while the other is always active, you will need a combination of two handle sets. For the active side, you'll need a single or double cylinder handleset. For the inactive door, you'll want to order a dummy handleset. This gives you the look of a complete working set, but doesn't have all of the mechanisms - perfect for an inactive door.

The Good. It looks nice and works. The Bad. I have a thick door and even with misremembering the thickness and ordering for a 3-inch door when in fact it was a 2 1/2-inch door I had to make a couple trips to the hardware store to replace screws that were not long enough. The instructions are terrible. I've installed dozens of locksets and this was a picture of a door with a lockset. The same day I installed a Schlage lockset in about 10 minutes in a door. This Lockset took about an hour not counting the trips to the hardware store.

[productqa_] Questions and Answers

Question Hello I am interested in purchasing two complete sets of your Lafayette black wrought iron entry door Handles and locks. My door thickness is 40mm. I have a two door entry. Doors side by side. The left door is the functioning door that opens inwards into the house. The left door is always locked by dead bolts top and bottom and rarely gets used unless I need to move furniture. I need one of your sets to be a dummy set for this door. Also I will need a dead lock to place above the installed door handle set. Can you please advise me if you can provide me the full two sets. One functioning for the left door and one dummy set for the right hand door? Thank you. Kind regards Frantz Radei

Question We can provide both sets. Just make sure that you get one single cylinder handleset and one dummy handleset. Also, make sure that when you select door handing it is determined from the outside. If you're facing the doors from the outside and the functioning door is on the left then it is the left handed door. Answer provided by:  Jake L (1/29/2016)
