Question are the polished brass finishes made by brass plating steel? Are they tarnish resistant? Thanks

Question This hinge is steel substrate with polished brass plating. The hinges would be tarnish resistant but not tarnish proof. Solid Brass is the best material for hinges you need to withstand excessive moisture or elements to resist tarnishing but they do cost more.
