We live in a new world with the onset of a world pandemic from the Covid-19 respiratory illness. Face masks, hand sanitizers and sanitizing wipes are a new norm and all play their part in avoiding unnecessary illness. Microbes, such as harmful bacteria, can be found on the surface of products used throughout your home. Did you know bacteria can double every 20 minutes on unprotected surfaces? Now is a great time to consider Kwikset door hardware featuring Microban technology that has an added layer of protection against the growth of bacteria to protect the hardware in your home. While microban is not designed to kill viruses, it is 99.9% cleaner than unprotected surfaces so you can be assured your hardware in your home is working continuously to help fight off infection from bacteria. The antimicrobial coating is incorporated into the finish during the manufacturing process and will not wash off or wear away. Microban lasts for the lifetime of the hardware finish.
How does Microban protection work?
Microban® protection is incorporated into the finish of select Kwikset® knobs and levers during the manufacturing process. When microbes come in contact with the product surface, Microban® protection penetrates the cell wall of the microorganism and disrupts the cell, making the microorganism unable to grow and reproduce.
*The Microban® antimicrobials used in Kwikset® finishes are approved by the US EPA and have a history of safe use in door hardware. Because Microban®’s antimicrobial additives are built into Kwikset products themselves, using these products does not result in consumer exposures or transmission directly into the environment in the way that products like disinfectants or liquid antibacterial soaps do during use. Additionally, Kwikset® products never contain triclosan or triclocarban.
