How to Determine Door Handing for a Weslock Unigard Premiere Sideplate

When ordering lever handles or handlesets, we'll need to know the handing of your door. Door handing is the direction in which your door swings. If you order the incorrect door handing you will either have locks on the wrong side of the door, levers that are upside down, or levers that point in the wrong direction and keep the door from closing properly.

how to determine your door handing
Follow These Steps:

step 1 Stand facing the door on the outside - If it's a locking door, stand on the side of the door where you would insert a key (or unlocking tool if it would be a privacy lock).
step 2 If the hinges are on the left, it's a left hand door. If the hinges are on the right, it's a right hand door.

Went to Lowe's and Home Depot and couldn't find the right size. Went on line and discovered this at Direct Door Hardware. Good quality finish. Fit perfectly. Easy to install. Well designed and looks great. I liked the price as well. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Questions and Answers

Question Looking to purchase the Weslock unigard premeire as a replacement for my old Kwikset entry set. Do you have a "dummy set" available also as I have a two door entry?.
Asked by: John - 2/20/2019
Question This lock is not available in the dummy function. You could install a functioning set on the dummy door omitting the latches to make your own dummy set. I would definitely check your measurements first though. I don't know of a Kwikset lock that will fit the same door prep as the Unigard Answer provided by:  Josh (2/21/2019)
Question I am going to replace the entrance door lock, which is Weslock Unigard Premiere as I was told by Home Depot. One option I do not fully understand is to choose the dimension for the backset, either 2 3/8" or 2 3/4". How do I know which one I should choose? Also what are the dimensions of lock plate and holes?
Asked by: David - 1/31/2023
Question Backset is the measurement from the edge of the door to the center of the bore hole. Learn how to measure backset here. Answer provided by:  Jake (2/1/2023)
