Door Hardware Help
Emtek Deadbolts are available in many styles and a variety of functions for different applications. You can order Emtek deadbolts as single cylinder, double cylinder, single sided and even keyless. Not sure which one to order? Here is a brief description of each:
Single Cylinder Deadbolts are the most commonly used. Single cylinder deadbolts require a key to unlock and lock the door from the outside. From the inside the door can be locked or unlocked with a simply turning the thumb turn mechanism.
Double Cylinder Deadboltshave a keyed cylinder on both sides of the door. These deadbolts require a key lock or unlock the door from both sides. Keep in mind that in an emergency you'd have to find your key before being able to unlock the door and escape.
Single Sided Deadbolts have only a thumb turn on the inside of the door. The bore hole for the deadbolt is drilled only partially through the door so from the outside you don't see the deadbolt. If your door already has a bore hole completely through the door, this type of deadbolt will not work for you.
Keyless Electronic Deadboltsdo not require a key to enter, but you can use one if you wish. Keyless deadbolt locks are programmable so you can create your own custom code for locking and unlocking the door. This is a great soluction for a secure home and not worrying about losing keys.
