About Schlage Deadbolt Functions
Schlage deadbolts are available in two functions:

Single Cylinder Deadbolt
Single cylinder deadbolts are the most commonly purchased Schlage deadbolt. A single cylinder deadbolt has a thumbturn on the interior side of the deadbolt and a keyed cylinder on the outside. This lets you lock or unlock the door with a quick turn of the thumbturn. To unlock from the outside you must have a key.

Double Cylinder Deadbolt
Schlage double cylinder deadbolts are not as commonly used. The double cylinder has a keyed cylinder on both inside and outside of the door. You have to use a key to unlock the door from inside or outside. Some people use double cylinder deadbolts on doors with glass panels or sidelites so that an intruder wouldn't be able to break the glass and reach inside to unlock the door. Double cylinder deadbolts are not recommended for applications where emergency egress would be a concern since you would have to find the key to unlock the door and exit the building.

Door Prep for Schlage Deadbolts
	As mentioned previously, Schlage deadbolts will fit doors that are prepped for drive in latches, square corner faceplates or rounded corner faceplates. So whatever you currently have, Schlage will be a good fit. Other measurements you'll want to check: - 2 1/8" Diameter bore hole. - Backset of 2 3/8" or 2 3/4" - 1" diameter cross bore.
