Description

Emtek Spring Loaded ball catches replace most standard sized ball catches. Emtek's Ball catch is not a drive in ball catch, but requires the attached mortise plate for installation. Adjustment can be made by twisting the threaded ball catch cylinder through the mortise plate to the desired height.

- Dia of Hole for Prep: 3/4"
- Mortise Plate Size - 2 1/8" High x 1" Wide.
- Strike Plate is also 2 1/8" high and sits 1" into the jamb with a lip protruding outward to catch the ball mechanism.
- Mounting Screws Provided.

Good design, however....
The adjustment screw in bottom is made of plactic and the threads strip very easily. This part of the ball catch should be made of a stronger and more durable material. As a supplier, I would review quality of items I sell. When you buy through the 'web' you cannot always see the flaws in product.

Emtek Ball catch door latch
I ordered this because a hallway door did not have space for a regular doorknob/latch installation, and I remembered when I was a kid 100 years ago my Dad had these around the house. This particular brand seems of excellent quality. Delivery was immediate. The idea is that the spring-loaded ball bearing snaps into a depression in the strike plate when the door is closed, and holds it shut. Medium pressure opens the door. Fully adjustable for different door clearances.
